After carefully studying this year’s 2013 Grammys red carpet fashion (a.k.a., recording the live show and pausing at every single look), it’s safe to say that I absolutely loved the dresses of the 2013 Grammys. Songstresses took risks and all-in-all, it was for the good. There were a few cringe-worthy dresses, but hey, at least these ladies really went for it.
My stand-out favorites:
Kelly Rowland in Georges Chakra looked sexy as heck. Her body is incredible.
Although Taylor Swift tends to stay within her fashion comfort zone, especially when it comes to Awards Show dresses, this creamy white J. Mendel Grecian-style dress is equal parts beautiful and dramatic.
Rihanna had me at Alaia. And the bold red color, sheer cross-over paneling on the bust, the long train – it’s all working for her. And her lipstick – I will find out what shade of red that is.
Allison Williams in KAUFMANFRANCO – I LOVE this dress.
Alexa Chung is always two steps ahead in the fashion game, and if she’s saying that vintage-inspired tea length dresses are in, then we better get our hands on some great Valentino-look-a-likes.
The next batch of dresses were just O.K. for me. I wanted to like some of them, but didn’t quite fall in love.
Jennifer Lopez knows how to strut, and strut she did. But although her gorgeous gams look great, the rest of the Anthony Vaccarello dress is just a bit forgettable.
What can I say about Katy Perry’s mint green chest-baring Gucci gown? She looked incredible in it, but it’s not my fave.
She’s Florence Welch, so she actually can pull off this high-slit metallic green sleeved Givenchy, I’m just not sure anyone else could.
I actually do like the two-piece black Joy Cioci number that Chrissy Teigen wore, but although it shows off Teigen’s assets, it’s not a stand-out.
Thoughts? Who wore your favorite look of the night?
